Western Romania is becoming a major hub in 2025 for renewable energy investments, attracting hudge projects that transform the region into a sustainability hub. With an impressive portfolio of investments and exceptional natural resources, Arad, Bihor, and Timis counties continue to attract global investors.
The RoEnergy Romania Trade Fair – Western Edition is a true magnet for companies in the renewable energy sector. The next edition, the 8th in Timisoara and the 16th in Romania, will take place between October 1-3, 2025, at Expovest Pavilion, Timisoara, Calea Lugojului 7. For 14 years, RoEnergy Trade Fair has served as a "key" platform for promoting green energy investments, focusing on solar/PV, bioenergy, energy storage, geothermal energy, and other innovative technologies.
One of the largest projects in Europe, the photovoltaic park in the villages of Pilu and Graniceri, located in Arad County, is about to become a reality after successfully obtaining all construction permits. With an impressive capacity of 1,044 MW and an estimated investment of 800 million euros, the project spans over 1,000 hectares. After several years of bureaucratic procedures, construction has finally been aproved.
This investment will not only bring major energy benefits but also create significant employment opportunities: approximately 1,000 people will be involved in the construction phase, while 200 technicians will handle operations and maintenance post-completion.
In addition to the photovoltaic park in Pilu and Graniceri, Monsson Group (the initial developer, although ownership structures have since changed) plans to develop two additional photovoltaic parks in the towns of Chisineu-Cris and Macea, also in Arad County, with a total capacity of 800 MW. These investments further strengthen the Western Romania as a development hub for the renewable energy sector.
Western Romania benefits from a unique combination of factors that attract investors:
Strategic geographical position, near the borders with Hungary and Serbia;
Diverse natural resources, including solar, bioenergy, and geothermal potential;
Well-developed infrastructure and accessibility;
Government support and favorable legislation for green energy investments;
Educated and qualified workforce in the field, important university hub
For 14 years, the RoEnergy Romania Trade Fair has remained a strategic partner in promoting renewable energy, supporting Romania’s transition to a sustainable economy.
