The Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Timișoara endorses RoEnergy 2026

Ms. Anja Zougouari, Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Timișoara, will participate as a speaker at the Conference "RES – Solutions for Industry" on 21 October 2026 and has addressed a message of support to the participants of the RoEnergy Trade Fair.

We hereby present the message of support:

,,Germany and Romania are connected by much more than strong trade figures. Our economies have become deeply intertwined through investment, industrial production, technology and, above all, people. Germany is Romania’s most important trading partner and its largest foreign investor, while German companies employ almost a quarter of a million people across the country. Western Romania, with its strong industrial base and its dense network of German and Romanian companies, is one of the places where this partnership is particularly visible.

Today, this close economic relationship gives us both an opportunity and a responsibility: to shape the transformation of our energy systems and industries together.

The energy transition is no longer simply a question of climate policy. Reliable and affordable energy, efficient industrial processes, modern grids and the rapid development of renewable energy have become essential to Europe’s competitiveness, resilience and security.

Romania has considerable strengths on which to build: a diversified energy mix, substantial domestic resources and significant potential for solar, wind, hydro and, in the future, offshore renewable energy. Germany contributes strong technological expertise, investment and an industrial sector that is already closely integrated with Romania’s economy. Our countries therefore have much to gain from closer cooperation – from renewable energy and energy efficiency to modern infrastructure, new technologies and the decarbonisation of industrial production.

This cooperation should not be understood as a one-way transfer of knowledge or technology. Germany and Romania are both transforming their energy systems, albeit from different starting points. We can learn from one another, invest together and develop solutions that strengthen not only our two economies, but Europe as a whole.

Timișoara and Western Romania are an excellent place for this dialogue. Here, Romanian-German economic cooperation has been part of everyday industrial reality for decades. The next step is to ensure that this successful industrial partnership also becomes a driving force for a secure, competitive and increasingly sustainable European energy future.

RoEnergy provides an important platform for bringing together the companies, technologies and ideas needed for this transformation, and I look forward to continuing this dialogue in Timișoara in October''.
